Profile
Robert Vincent Francis
1949 – 2014
Robert V. Francis, Esq., passed away on October 24, 2014, of
complications from his several handicaps, having suffered all
his life with cerebral palsy. To his great credit, he never
let those handicaps get in the way of offering his smiles and
good humor to all who would accept him. A friendly and
vivacious character, Robert was well-known for many years on
State Street and in restaurants and shops around Santa Barbara.
In his later years he zoomed about in his electric wheel-chair.
He will be remembered for the way he would suddenly shout out,
“Hey, I know you!”, and flash the hand-sign, “shaka!” He was a
good soul and he did his best.
Born in San Francisco, Robert was preceded in death by his
parents, Vincent A. and Frances Francis, of Montecito. He is
survived by his older brother, Kirk H. Francis, who looked
after and cared for his younger brother all their lives.
No services are planned, but Robert’s ashes will be placed
near his parents in Santa Barbara Cemetery and on a small
coffee farm in Hawaii, his favorite place.
